Headquartered in Seoul, Samsung is the largest South Korean multinational business conglomerate (chaebol). The company was initially founded in 1938 as a trading company. Over the next few decades, it ventured into various business verticals such as electronics, textiles, food processing, securities, retail, and insurance. 

Samsung is currently comprised of around 80 companies. Samsung Electronics, Samsung Heavy Industries, Samsung Engineering, Samsung C&T, Samsung Life Insurance, and Cheil Worldwide are the most notable of its industrial affiliates. As of February 2018, the company's market capitalization is valued at US $283 billion.
